Ferrous means that the metal contains iron. Non-ferrous means there is no iron. The easiest way to determine if a metal is ferrous or non-ferrous is to check it with a magnet. If it is magnetic then it is ferrous or contains iron. Some examples of non-ferrous metals are copper, aluminum, brass & some stainless steels. Examples of ferrous metals are steel, some stainless steels & iron.
